Virus.....

OK, on the same day my brothers desktop (Windows XP) and my mom's lap top (windows 7) got attacked by two different viruses, but both have the same goal (disable, steal info, charge for AV that doesn't work;etc.) One virus on my mom's was called System Tool, my brother had AntiVirus Monitor. I was able to fix both, but if these viruses were related can they be transfered through our broadband router? I was wandering.

No, rouge programs start by the user "accidently" installing them on their pc.

Malwarebytes is the program i use to remove rogue software like that.
